Gooey Butter Cookies: Soft, Sweet, Irresistible

Ingredients

1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz) ½ cup unsalted butter, softened 1 package cream cheese (8 oz), softened 1 large egg 1 tsp vanilla extract ½ cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

In a large bowl, beat softened butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add egg and vanilla extract, then mix in the cake mix until fully combined.

Cover and chill the cookie dough for at least 1 hour. Chilling makes the dough easier to handle and keeps cookies from spreading too much.

Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and roll each in powdered sugar. The sugar coating gives the cookies their signature crackled, sweet finish.

Place cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 10–12 minutes. Edges should be set while centers remain soft and gooey.

Let cookies cool slightly before serving. These gooey, buttery treats are perfect with coffee, tea, or a holiday cookie tray.
