– 3 ½ cups bread flour – 1 tbsp sugar – 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet) – 1 ¼ tsp salt – 1 cup warm water (110°F) – 2 tbsp olive oil – 1 egg (for egg wash)
In a large bowl, combine bread flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed before adding your wet ingredients.
Add warm water and olive oil to the dry mix. Stir until a sticky dough forms, then knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a lightly greased bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 60–90 minutes until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and divide into 6 equal parts. Roll each into a sub shape and place on a lined baking sheet.
Let rolls rise again for 30 minutes. Brush with egg wash and bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Cool rolls on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy your fresh homemade sub rolls with your favorite sandwich fillings!
