3 ½ cups all-purpose flour 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast 1 ¼ cups warm water (about 110°F) 2 tbsp sugar 1 tsp salt 2 tbsp vegetable oil
In a bowl, mix warm water (110°F) with sugar and active dry yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. This activates the yeast for rising.
Add flour, salt, and oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined, then knead by hand or mixer for 8–10 minutes until dough is smooth.
Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size. This step gives the bread its light texture.
Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased 9x5 pan. Let rise again for 30 minutes, then bake at 375°F for 30 minutes.
Remove the bread from the oven and pan. Let cool on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy warm, toasted, or with your favorite toppings.
